Funded under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, this Office of Naval Research (ONR) project is developing an immersive desktop application for the operation and maintenance of the Mk45 MOD 4 gun mount. This 24-ton gun mount fires five-inch, 70-pound shells to a maximum range of 13 miles up to 20 rounds per minute. The gun mount is commonly found on US Navy destroyers and cruisers. The application features a next-gen intelligent tutoring system powered by dynamic Bayesian networks which dynamically develop student models determining levels of mastery from in-game performance.
